People get really fed up when they continue to blog at their best and don’t get any results even from SEO and any other source. As a result, they get frustrated and leave blogging. But wait! Don’t move to SEO. ‘Charity begins at home’ heard this? Well, it doesn’t relate to this post much but the idiom mean that to start something, you should start with extreme beginning. So, if you are not getting traffic, then maybe your writing style is not good. People only love posts which are well written and enlighten them with real topic. Many people know the topic to write but don’t know that whether they are writing good or bad. So, in this post, I would tell how to write a post. Please continue..
What A Post Is All About?
A post is basically a medium to express your thoughts or knowledge with the world with the help of words. It must be noted that you write especially for readers, not for SEO bots. That’s what readers and Google love. Just write for readership and your site would automatically be picked up by Google.
It should be observed that content is to the point. If you are writing a review, then only engage readers around it. Don’t take your content on the other side as it may confuse both readers and Google that what your post is all about. Try to make it specific in first 2 paragraphs what you are going to write in whole post. Seriously! This would help your users to understand your site a lot!
It must be observed that title takes a match with the respective content. Make the title good and attractive. Try to make it simple and brief and explain the whole topic in just a single line. This may seem difficult but try these tricks:
If you are writing a Review, then start like this: What Is Hostgator? Bla bla… [Review]
If you are writing a Tutorial, then start like this: How to do bla bla… [Tutorial]
In normal post, simply write the title.
It really makes clear to user that what the post is all about. It would help user to see the whole post in a glance.
Long paragraphs can really irritate users and really, they would leave your site on seeing that specific junk. So, try to break down long paragraphs into short 3-4 paragraphs. Break a paragraph wherever it seems necessary. If there is a sudden change in the topic, then use heading tags to promote that.
#4: Heading Tags
Create your heading tags beautiful and use them. Make sure not to use h1 and h2 tags in your post as they are against SEO rules. Use heading tags from h3 and make them attractive using simple CSS tricks. This also helps to separate great junk of text with each other boosting your content readership.
Try to begin your post with an image, not a simple dull paragraph. Create and upload relevant images in your post as it is rightly said: ‘An image is worth a thousand words’ Relevant images help users to grasp your topic efficiently and thus it helps both sides. Include other multimedia like videos, animated images, etc. if possible in post with a limited quantity as it may affect page speed then.
#6: Tags And Categories
Most of the people (usually on wordpress) flood tags and categories with almost every word available in post. This is seriously a wastage of time as neither tags nor categories are crawled by Google. Moreover, it usually gives a SPAM impression to user and finally he/she ends up with leaving your site at once.
Do you leave your post anywhere? Do you just write for yourself? This is too a good point to be observed. Try to make suitable ending to your post. Thank, request, demand, or appeal users at the end of the post for some tasks. Thanks users for reading the complete post and tell them some suspicious facts about the post. You can also demand for their precious comments.
#8: Links: Internal or External?
It must be observed that internal links are placed in your content on relevant places. External links are not always harmful. According to Google, you should give dofollow links to high quality sites. This helps your site to get better crawl in Google search results. Its true!
#9: Post URL
Make sure your post URL matches with your content. Just like post heading, your post URL is also one of the most important aspects of post. It not only helps you to get a good SERP ranking in Google, but it also tells people what this post is all about. Mostly, all CMS platforms give you the ability to choose your custom post URL.
#10: Keyword Density
Try to research keywords on Google Adwords Keyword Tool. The tool is specially made for adwords customers to spot their ad place in results, but this tool is widely used by publishers too! This tool helps you to locate the competition between any keyword. Make sure not to repeat a keyword in a post too much. This leads to keyword stuffing which may hurt your site adversely.
