How to check your website keywords rankings?

It is a must for every webmaster to know how to check his/her website keyword rankings. But don’t expect your post to be found in the Google’s SERP.  And why not?  When you have not done any proper keyword research, how can you expect that.  This is the usual trend that is observed across the blogosphere.

Writing a post without knowing about the keywords to be used, their search history, keyword difficulty etc is a folly in today’s context. Because Search Engine Optimisation is still not dead. And keyword optimisation of your content is an integral part of on-page SEO which you can’t avoid, no matter how much you dislike it.

Keyword research is not an uphill task for any webmaster or an SEO Expert.  There are a good number of online tools available which will help you with relevant information like search history, keyword difficulty etc.

If you still blog in a disciplined manner and not in the way like an inexperienced newbie as mentioned above, you have a lot to do in this regard.
After determining the keywords you want to rank for, you write a keyword optimised post.  Like a seasoned blogger, you take care of other on-page SEO factors.  Your likelihood of appearing in the first two to three pages of SERP becomes stronger.  You publish your post in no time.

But wait, as a webmaster, your job is not finished on clicking the publish button of your admin. You may assume that writing a well-optimised post will land you in the top 20-25 SERP results.  But to ensure that you need to check your website keywords rankings from time to time.

You should also observe that how other sites are performing for those keywords. And whether you need to take any performance enhancing initiative to improve your position in Google’s SERP.

It is a good habit to check how you are performing for a keyword.  A one position improvement in ranking may increase your traffic volume manifolds.  But I will rather insist on not manually checking them. It is time-consuming.  More so, when your blog or site has a good number of posts within.  You may run out of patience trying to search for your site in the Google SERP result.

Also, there are information which can’t be manually obtained. Like your mobile ranking, desktop ranking, link metrics, anchor text, and title tags for insight into your ranking position.  For getting this details, you should use a keyword ranking tools.

Therefore, I have a prepared a list of tools for checking your website keyword ranking online.  Some of them are free. However, the downside is that most of them without many features and usually replicate one another.  Those available with additional features are for premium only.

WEBSEOANALYTICS.COM  I begin my list with a simple online keyword ranking tool.  In the space provided below, you have to provide the keyword(s) you want to check and your domain name.
The result is provided as under:-
SERP.COM This is a simple online tool for checking keyword.  If you want to check the rank of a keyword(s), just type the keyword(s) in the space provided.  In case, you want to view all 250 results for every keyword entered, leave the domain space blank.  Select the Search engine and location.

Choose the device for which you want to check the keyword.  Click on the bar ‘Go’.  You will get the result in a couple of minutes.
The result is also available  as CSV which can be downloaded from the site.  This manual checking facility is available for free.  If you don’t want to take the pain of checking your keywords manually, then you may opt for the paid version.  However, the pricing may not be suitable for you.

MOONSY.COM    This is a cool tool for checking google keyword rankings.  As usual, you need to provide your keywords and domain name.  And the result is presented to you through a graph.  This tool is credited with checking google position for a single keyword for many domains at a time.  Currently, provides results for first hundred search results.

Before I proceed any further, I want to point out that all the above keyword rank checkers are free online.  The only paid version of SERP.COM is not worth considering because of its high pricing.  Therefore, I would like you folks to check some paid tools which provide better alternatives to the list provided above.
While you are aware of the benefits of using keyword ranking tools, you should also be aware of the disadvantages.  The most common problem as observed in the webmasters is that they get frustrated when their ranking takes a sudden dip.  There is nothing to worry about as website ranking varies from day to day, even in morning and evening in any given day.  So, I request you guys not to check you rankings frequently.

Web Pages don’t rank at the click of publish button.  Search engines take time to index new pages.  You have to be patient sometimes.  Alternatively, you can go for manual indexing by clicking the Fetch as Google button in Google Search Console.
Checking website keyword rank should be a priority for newbies.

The most common problem of manual searching is that Google will show your previous results.  As told earlier, search results keep varying from one day to another.  Therefore, you will not get to know the latest status of a particular post.
However, this can be managed if you conduct a search in an incognito mode.  The search results that will appear will be of real time.  And you can know the exact position of your post in the search result.
You can use third party tools as an alternative.  I have mentioned some keyword ranking tools above.
One of the main disadvantages of manual searching is that you may see your blog post ranked higher than a post of an authority blog.  This may let you be under the impression that your post is better.  And actually when it is not.
